Youngstown market ABC affiliate WYTV/33 is being sold to a company that is just starting out in the world of TV.
The sale is to Los Angeles-based Parkin Broadcasting. Despite the name, it has no other broadcast interests.
The Youngstown Vindicator has more on the sale by Chelsey Broadcasting to a company that has focused on Internet ventures:
The Youngstown-based station will become the platform for “ideas to marry new media, such as the Internet, with television,” Todd Parkin, chairman and chief executive of Parkin Broadcasting, said in a news release.
The Vindicator reports the new WYTV owners have spent the past four years, according to their press release, “focusing on streaming media and mobile content”.
We’ll see if they can focus on the old-fashioned business of running a TV station in Ohio…
