THIS JUST IN: Jim Donovan To Return To Browns Radio

We’ve touched on this before, when we learned that Jim Donovan’s Browns Radio partner Doug Dieken told Clear Channel talk WTAM/1100 sports director Mike Snyder that Donovan did intend to return to the Browns Radio booth for the season opener of this year’s Browns campaign. (hat tip to OMW Reader Tom Moore for his item on WTAM.com).

It’s seeming more real, now.

Media members have been tweeting that Donovan is indeed at Browns headquarters in Berea this Monday, going through the usual week-long preparation for Sunday’s game.

CBS Radio sports WKRK/92.3 “The Fan” Browns beat reporter Daryl Ruiter, also in Berea, tells us Donovan will indeed be back in the booth for the Browns’ Sunday opener with the Cincinnati Bengals.

From Daryl’s Twitter account:

Great to see Jim Donovan back in Berea today; coach Pat Shurmur came over during practice to say hi

Just hearing Jim Donovan hanging out in the media room makes my day. Consummate pro & a great guy; glad to see him in great spirits & well!

The news is quickly spreading around the Internet, with much happiness.

Jim Donovan has been on a very tough health journey battling leukemia, and recently completed what has been described as a successful bone marrow transplant.

We are very glad that Donovan’s voice will be on our radio again for the Browns season…and we are far from alone.

There’s no word on when the Gannett NBC affiliate WKYC/3 sports director will return to the TV side of his career…

Comments

  1. Just to clarify, Doug Dieken didn’t tell me that Jim Donovan said he’d come back for the first game; he said it to Mike Snyder during the play-by-play of a pre-season Browns game. I just wrote the story that appeared on wtam.com. Appreciate the mention, though.

  2. The incorrect part of this report has been corrected, Tom. Thanks!
