GHOULARDIFEST 2012 RETURNS TO PARMA BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!

(For Immediate Release) Cleveland’s giant pop culture celebration, Ghoulardifest returns with a star studded weekend November 2, 3 &4 honoring the greats of Cleveland TV and radio! The 2011 Ghoulardifest was a huge success drawing more than 5000 fans to visit with the personalities that shaped their lives. This year’s Ghoulardifest promises to be the biggest yet, and one of the most successful conventions of its kind in the entire Midwest! Wait until you hear what we have in store this year!

Think the Bat-Signal draws attention? Wait until you see Ghoulardi’s face beaming down from the skies over Parma! Sponsored by Gene Gothard and All Seasons Searchlight in Cleveland, the giant beam will guide Ghoulardi fans from miles around to this year’s fest.

THE RETURN OF “GUITARZAN!”

How do you follow an act like the “Kielbasi Kid”? Big Chuck, Lil’ John and Hoolihan won’t disappoint as they recreate the classic “Guitarzan” skit live on the Ghoulardifest stage! With help from the Son of Ghoul and Art LoFredo the gang stages this multi-media performance that you’ll be talking about for years to come. Don’t miss this chance to see the legends of Northeast Ohio TV together on stage doing what they do best, having fun and making people laugh!

THE FIRST ANNUAL SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON CARNIVAL!

Remember getting up early on weekends and watching the great line-up of Saturday morning cartoons? Get ready for a nostalgic trip to your childhood with the First Annual Saturday Morning Cartoon Carnival! Mike Olszewski hosts a walk down memory lane with cartoon favorites made famous by Barnaby, Captain Penny, Woodrow and Franz the Toymaker. Many of these rare cartoons haven’t been seen since they aired in the Sixties! “The Mighty Hercules”, “The Funny Company”, “Krazy Kat”, “Ruff and Reddy”, “Dick Tracy”, “Felix the Cat” and many more! Plus, rare commercials from kids TV that will bring back a wave of great memories. Cartoons go on the big screen as soon as the doors open!

“REBEATS” & “THE NOWHERE MEN” ROCK THE GHOULARDIFEST STAGE

Ghoulardifest offers the best in musical entertainment, and they do it again this year with the Beatles-inspired “ReBeats” and the “Nowhere Men.” They take you back to Beatlemania with the sights and sounds of a magical time that’s is so special to all of us. It’s a chance to show your kids what they missed (and to let them know how lucky we were!) “ReBeats” play on Saturday evening, and the “Nowhere Man” take the stage on Sunday afternoon. It’s a two-day Magical Mystery Tour that can’t be missed!

WBNX-TV has opened its archives and is giving Ghoulardifest fans a chance to own rare promotional pieces from WB / CW shows. Canvas promotional banners from “One Tree Hill”, “Gilmore Girls”, “Vampire Diaries”,”Hellcats” and so many more will be available on a first come, first served basis as long as they last. THE FANS STAR AT GHOULARDIFEST!

It wouldn’t be a Ghoulardifest without the fans, and Big Chuck and Lil’ John give you a chance to shine! Cheer on your friends at the annual pizza eating contest, and don’t forget the karaoke competition! A great opportunity to showcase your talents in front of hundreds of people celebrating a special time in our lives. Hosted by the Son of Ghoul.

More guests have been announced for this year’s Ghoulardifest, including:

Dick Goddard – The long time Cleveland weather forecaster returns to Ghoulardifest with stories of his own career and tales of the pioneering days of Northeast Ohio television. And don’t be surprised to see one of Ghoulardifest’s favorite guests, the Plain Dealer’s Tom Feran discussing his best selling book “Ghoulardi – Inside Cleveland TV’s Wildest Ride”.

Bill Ward – The legendary voice of WJW joins us for a behind the scenes look at a career spanning four decades! Bill will also talk about his movie roles, including the film “Unstoppable.”

Son of Ghoul – The longest running TV show of its kind in Northeast Ohio history, the Son of Ghoul returns with more madcap antics! A huge fan favorite, SOG presents a side-splitting stage show that’s great fun for everyone in the family!

Mike Olszewski – Author, long time broadcaster and pop culture historian Mike Olszewski returns to discuss his latest book, WIXY 1260: Pixies, Six-Packs and Supermen, and gives us a preview of a major new project!

Jim Szymanski – Veteran radio personality and the original master of ceremonies carries on that long tradition at Ghoulardifest VIII. Plus, Ghoulardifest welcomes back the comedic talents of Art Lofredo, Roy “Captain Eddie” Leasure and, of course, the one and only Big Stash!

John Thornburg – You’ve enjoyed his work for years! The long time card artist will be discussing his many contributions to the Big Chuck and Lil’ John show.

And, of course, your hosts… “Big Chuck” Schodowski and “Lil’ John” Rinaldi – Chuck will also discuss his book detailing his life in front of the camera starting with the king himself, Ernie “Ghoulardi” Anderson. John Rinaldi remains one of Northeast Ohio’s most beloved television personalities.

Bob “Hoolihan” Wells – The “heir apparent” to WJW’s late night legacy returns with tales of the early days of Friday night lunacy.

And those are just a few of the stars who will be making appearances at this year’s Ghoulardifest, with many more to be announced in the coming weeks.

    The first Ghoulardifest was 1997. Held in conjunction with the WMJI/WIXY Reunion Weekend… Was the last Reunion as well.
