Our thoughts are going out today to the author of a blog which has become something of a Southwest Ohio companion to OMW.Tri-State Media Watch editor Jeremy Moses will be away from the blog that covers media in the Cincinnati area for some time, due to critical health concerns. He tells us:To sum up, I have been having what were termed by my doctors as "syncopal episodes", also known as fainting spells, over the last two days. It's not clear what is causing these, whether it's stress or other … [Read more...]

A Mess Of Cable Changes
Every once in a while, we dip into the legal programming notices section of Time Warner Cable's website, where the company has to disclose some upcoming changes without shouting them from the rooftops. The list currently up for TWC's Northeast Ohio service area is long, complex and detailed.But...what looks innocuous on the legal notice could well develop into a problem not many anticipated. The notice includes what most usually think is "boilerplate" language about the potential loss of carriage … [Read more...]

NBC Leads With Its Chin
It's not a local media story, but it's big enough to be displayed prominently on the website of the Cleveland station that'll be most directly affected by it.The not-yet-confirmed news is spreading like wildfire among the various national TV writers this Monday evening.NBC's late night talk show king Jay Leno, who is scheduled to step down from his post hosting the network's "Tonight Show" next year, won't be leaving that network after all.The New York Times' Bill Carter is one of many reporting … [Read more...]

Waiting For Shoes To Drop
This is an item filled with mostly some random items, much of the content from outside the immediate Cleveland/Akron/Canton area. But as they say, "stay tuned".The rumblings surrounding pending major moves at one local TV news operation are very loud...so loud you could probably hear them while standing on, oh, just to pick a street totally out of random, Lakeside Avenue in downtown Cleveland. What we're hearing will probably surprise you, and not just because of any names involved, or for that … [Read more...]

A Packed Wednesday
This one's full of both radio and TV items, news updates and enough to make us want to charge you for it. Hey, a Primary Editorial Voice(tm)'s gotta eat somehow. But alas, fortunately for you, OMW is free, as always...MORE 92.3 FALLOUT: It's not really a format change, per se...just a deeper playlist and a more shallow staff list.
