Those disappointed with WOSU Public Media's decision to go all-classical on Mansfield repeater WOSV/91.7 are continuing to express their disappointment on WOSU GM Tom Rieland's blog. And despite continued suggestions to try for distant signals, listen online or go get HD Radio equipment to hear NPR programming in Mansfield, gone since the move to rebroadcast WOSU's "Classical 101" (WOSA/101.1 Grove City) on 91.7, those suggestions aren't going over well with those used to picking up NPR … [Read more...]

Throughout the media circus surrounding Ted Williams, the 53 year-old homeless Columbus man whose "golden voice" has made him a worldwide celebrity, we thought there was an "untold story" behind him. UPDATE 1/5/11 11:13 AM: An update on "The Homeless Radio Voice Guy": With Ted Williams' story going national, he's appeared on national morning TV (NBC's "Today" and CBS' "Early Show", among others), and has gotten job offers from diverse places like MTV and the Cleveland Cavaliers. (They want him for voice work, not to play power forward.) A big Columbus radio switch has taken place. This morning at 6 AM, The Ohio State University officially launched "Classical 101", putting 24/7 classical music on the former WWCD/101.1 Grove City...now known under new call letters WOSA. The "Classical 101" format also airs on WOSB/91.1 Marion, and according to an earlier announcement by the station, WOSP/91.5 Portsmouth and WOSE/91.1 Coshocton...not to mention taking the HD2 spot on WOSU-FM/89.7. Ever since Dispatch/RadiOhio sports WBNS/1460 began simulcasting on their sister 97.1 frequency back in January 2009, the longtime OSU and Columbus Blue Jackets flagship station was never able to make it a full-time simulcast.
