Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting Manager Retiring

After over 20 years with Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting, president/general manager Gary Kneisley is stepping down from the top management post at the company, at the end of the year.

Radio & Records Online reports that former Metro Networks regional manager Lonnie Gronek will take over as GM of the chain which includes Cleveland-targeted smooth jazz outlet WNWV/107.3 Elyria (“The Wave”), news/talk WEOL/930 Elyria, AC/oldies combo WLKR/95.3 – WLKR/1510 Norwalk, and country WKFM/96.1 “K96” Huron.

Gronek is best known for a long stint with Malrite Broadcasting, including roles as GM at legendary Cleveland rocker WMMS/100.7 (now a Clear Channel station) and general sales manager of another legendary station, New York top 40 outlet WHTZ “Z100” (also, by the way, now in Clear Channel’s arsenal).

ELBC veteran Tim Kelly, who’s been cluster manager of the company’s Norwalk-based outlets (WLKR and “K96”), and program director of “K96”, takes over the chainwide job of operations director.

Though Kneisley is officially retiring at the end of the year, both Gronek and Kelly are reportedly set to take over their roles on July 1st…
