Chuck Booms Out at FOX Sports Radio

OMW hears from a good source on what we believe is an exclusive: Euclid resident Chuck Booms, who’s been hosting weekend late night and fill-in shifts on FOX Sports Radio, has left the building. Well, virtually, that is, since he did his programs via ISDN from Northeast Ohio.

We hear that Booms was officially no longer employed by the sports talk radio network as of last Friday.

We heard Chuck do a show a couple of weeks ago in his regular Sunday night time slot with veteran San Diego sports talk voice John Fricke, who listeners heard solo in that spot last weekend. Instead of a preview of a possible two-host show, the program would appear to have been Fricke’s audition to replace Booms.

The local sports talker and comedian is best known in sports talk radio for his previous drive-time stint on FSR, as a co-host with Kevin Kiley on a program called “Kiley and Booms”.

He’s done occasional radio work in Northeast Ohio, including his entry as one of the auditioners for an opening on Clear Channel talk WTAM/1100 – the now-9 AM to noon slot taken by Bob Frantz. And back when the company’s liberal talk WARF/1350 Akron “Radio Free Ohio” was still a sports station, Booms did some work for that station as well.

And we’ve seen Chuck’s name in our own comments section. Chuck, if you’re still reading OMW and would like to answer this, our E-Mail is up there at the left hand side of the screen…
