The long-promised, long-awaited Time Warner Cable digital channel realignment appears to have officially spread to the former Adelphia systems based in Cleveland. At least it happened at OMW World Headquarters in the early morning hours of this Wednesday, April 30th...and we have heard scattered reports that we're not alone. There are still some glitches, at least in our personal experience. A couple of new channels listed aren't available, or are apparently not correctly aligned with whatever … [Read more...]
TWC Ex-Adelphia Changes Early Tuesday?
UPDATE 9:15 AM 4/22/08: There's a good reason there's a question mark on this item's title. As below, TWC did indeed move SportsTime Ohio's analog feed from 17 to 76 last night in the former Adelphia areas. There's now a screen up on 17 directing viewers to tune into 76.As far as we can tell from our vantage point, the rest of the alignment did not happen. We'll see if it happens tomorrow night. Our original item is below...-------------If you believe this notice on the front of SportsTime Ohio's … [Read more...]
TWC Digital Realignment Update
An update to our earlier post/question about Time Warner Cable's local digital channel realignment...TWC's Bill Jasso tells OMW that the cable operator expects to complete the digital channel moves in the Greater Cleveland area by the end of this month. The cable operator has already put in the new digital lineup in the so-called "legacy" areas in the Akron/Canton region - the systems that the company previously operated before acquiring Adelphia and Comcast's Cleveland area subscribers. He also … [Read more...]
Our Number One Asked Question
We wouldn't say we get a flood of E-Mail, but even when we're away, we get a decent trickle. And the number one asked question of the past few days is:"When will Time Warner Cable complete their digital channel realignment?"Those asking the questions, as near as we can tell, are in TWC's "North/Cleveland" territory, otherwise known as the former Adelphia and Comcast system areas TWC acquired some time back. By all we've heard, the former "legacy" TWC systems in the Akron/Canton area have made … [Read more...]
Random Leftovers
UPDATE 8:21 PM 3/18/08: A name fix and another update below:-----------------In media news not involving canines in front of microphones, some stuff we need to revisit and update:REVAMPING TWC: As it turns out, the vast empire that is the Time Warner Cable firmament in Northeast Ohio isn't all "fixed" in a day.The highly-touted and advertised digital channel realignment at the local cable operator is being done area-by-area over the rest of this month, at least. OMW hears that folks in places … [Read more...]
Another Sign The TWC Lineup Changes Are Soon
We reported earlier about planned changes to mostly-the-digital lineup of Time Warner Cable's Northeast Ohio systems, as channels above 100 will be realigned to a near-identical lineup sometime this week. The TWC legal notice we quoted from their website said the changes would be "on or about March 4th", which at last check, is tomorrow. Here's another sign, courtesy of our friend Frank Macek, senior director at Gannett NBC affiliate WKYC/3, and an item on his "Director's Cut" blog:ALL Time Warner … [Read more...]
TWC Getting Systems Together?
It hasn't been publicized anywhere else that we know of, but an OMW reader tipped us off to what could be pretty big news in the Time Warner Cable Northeast Ohio universe.According to this required legal notice on TWC's local website, it would appear that the cable operator is finally going about starting the business of standardizing lineups among the three different parts of the TWCNEO universe...the original "legacy" systems in Akron/Canton, the former Adelphia systems and the former Comcast … [Read more...]
Some Random Items
Starting our week with, well, odd stuff that may or may not be related:WBNX BLOG: It's actually been around for a while, but we only recently stumbled onto a local TV station getting into this blogging thing.Cleveland market CW affiliate WBNX/55 Akron's blog is mostly full of promotion for the station's CW network programming, and the various syndicated programming aired by the station. But there are a few local tidbits in there, and not just appearances by station-linked stars or locations of … [Read more...]
Out The Weekend Door
Here are some items that were piled up as we prepare to shut down for the weekend...RUBBER CITY RADIO STAFFER'S NEW JOB: You could say that Rubber City Radio afternoon traffic voice Toni Cicone has a new "stack" of work.Well, OK, that was a pun you never saw coming, as the folks on West Market Street tell us that Cicone, who has been afternoon editor for the company's extensive AkronNewsNow website, has left Akron's WAKR/1590-WQMX/94.9-WONE/97.5 for a new non-radio job. It's for a magazine … [Read more...]
The Midweek Skip
Looks like we're doing the "Tuesday/Thursday" thing this week, as far as updates go...RONNIE DUNCAN OUT?: Regular OMW reader and alert tipster Nathan Obral in Lake County gets the hat tip for this.He doesn't know when it happened - and for that matter, neither do we - but it appears morning drive host Ronnie Duncan is out at Radio One Cleveland urban talker WERE/1490.Sure enough, Duncan has been excised from the "Newstalk 1490" website. The schedule now lists the "WERE Morning Show" from 6-9 … [Read more...]
