It usually takes us a full day here at OMW to digest Roger Brown's Monday sports media column in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. We take at least part of the day to filter out plugs for people he likes, real estate listings, or obvious tidbits. (This week, it's the startling proclamation that over half of Salem sports talk WKNR/850's listeners are men ages 35 to 54. Wow...a sports station with listeners mostly being adult males! Hold the presses!)The most interesting tidbit in Brown's Monday … [Read more...]

Two Followup Items
INDICTED: Former WDJX/Louisville KY air personality and promotions staffer Todd Kelly Smith has been indicted by a Louisville grand jury, and arrested on a dozen theft related charges, according to Louisville TV stations WHAS/11 and WAVE/3...which report his mother was also arrested. The charges stem from Todd's involvement in a self-created charity for victims of ALS ("Lou Gehrig's Disease"), and the indictment says he never forwarded money collected by the Todd Kelly Foundation to ALS victims. … [Read more...]
Random Notes
NOTE 1: A regular OMW reader tells us WTAM/1100 afternoon motormouth Mike Trivisonno turned his sights on John Gorman, former veteran local PD who now writes a radio column for the Cleveland Free Times weekly newspaper. The problem? Gorman's most recent column, where he echos the general thought that Triv is "quaking in his boots" over the addition of syndicated stars Opie and Anthony to the WXRK/92.3 "K-Rock" afternoon lineup.Well, OK. Regular readers of This Space know that we're not … [Read more...]

A Public Service to WNIR Talk Show Hosts
When Media-Com Akron market talker WNIR/100.1 switched from CBS Radio News to ABC News Radio's Information network last year, we wonder if ABC was aware that WNIR talk show hosts get to the top-of-the-hour network newscast when they're good and ready. And they've been doing so...for years. After hearing WNIR afternoon driver Bob Golic join an ABC newscast nearly 40 seconds late the other day, we decided we needed to provide WNIR with some help. Here ya go, Broadcast Park...a free link courtesy of … [Read more...]
Yet Another Triv Folo
If he got yet another call from a listener getting asked if they'd listen to him in mornings, we didn't hear it on WTAM afternoon motormouth Mike Trivisonno's show today. But we did hear something interesting.Triv was ripping former Indians star Jim Thome for refusing that Indians offer a few years ago to keep him in Cleveland, and taking a larger offer to go to the Philadelphia Phillies while telling Triv and fans he wanted to stay in Cleveland...saying the current Chicago White Sox slugger … [Read more...]
Why Don’t They Take Out A Billboard?
We missed it, but an OMW tipster tells us the subject of WTAM afternoon motormouth Mike Trivisonno in mornings came up AGAIN on his Monday afternoon show.Like Friday, when a caller told Triv about a "research" call asking if he'd listen to the WTAM afternoon driver in mornings, another caller brought up a similar call on Monday's Triv show.Friday, we heard Triv tell his caller that "you're about the 12th person to tell me about a call like this". We're told the number is apparenly up to "about … [Read more...]
